Frequently Asked Questions....

Why are cloth diapers better than disposables?

Our cloth diapers are great for your baby, they are made from 100% natural cotton fibers and are free of the chemicals and perfumes used by disposable diapers. Studies have shown that babies in cloth diapers potty train earlier than babies in disposables. Did you know that the average age for a child to be potty trained has jumped from 18 to over 36 months since the arrival of disposable diapers?  Environmentally, cloth diapers are the ultimate in recycling because they are reused again and again and have a useful life as rags after the diapering years.  Disposable diapers are used once and the EPA estimates that it may take 450 years for them to decompose.

What is your service area?

We service the entire Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton metropolitan areas and all points in between as well as South Central Oklahoma.  Some cities we cover include Addison, Allen, Ardmore, Argyle, Arlington, Aubrey, Bedford, Benbrook, Burleson, Cedar Hill, Colleyville, Coppell, Corinth, Crowley, Dallas (all areas), Denton, Duncanville, Euless, Flower Mound, Fort Worth (all areas), Frisco, Gainesville, Garland, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Highland Park, Hurst, Irving, Justin, Keller, Lake Dallas, Lewisville, Little Elm, Mesquite, McKinney, Murphy, Northlake, North Richland Hills, Oak Cliff, Park Cities, Plano, Pilot Point, Richardson, Roanoke, Rockwall, Saginaw, Sanger, Southlake, Tioga, The Colony, Trophy Club, University Park, Watauga, and White Settlement.  We are constantly expanding so if you do not see your area listed click on the Delivery Area button and enter your zip code.  If your area is not currently listed as being available simply call us and see when we will begin deliveries in your area!

How does your service work?

Simply leave your bag of dirty diapers outside your front door once a week and we come by and replace them with soft, clean, sanitized diapers.  That's it!  You don't even need to be home.

Every week we drop off the clean diapers in a waterproof diaper pail liner which doubles as our delivery bag.  You just unpack the clean diapers from the liner and place it in your diaper pail.  No need to soak, rinse, or wash the dirty diapers.  If your baby's poop isn't solid yet, just drop the soiled diapers in the bag and forget about them until delivery day.  If your baby has been introduced to solid food and their poop is a little more substantial, you have a couple of options.  You can just flip the poop into the toilet and put the dirty diaper into the pail, or if you want to use a diaper liner, you just pick up the liner and flush it down the toilet, again placing the dirty diaper in the pail.

How do I get started?

We set up an initial delivery and orientation appointment.  At this meeting you will receive your first rotation of diapers along with 2 free Snappis®.  We can take this time to give you a hands-on tutorial on how to use cloth diapers and answer any questions you may have.

If your child has already arrived, you may begin using the diapers immediately and the pick-up/drop-off will begin the following week on your designated delivery day.  If you are pregnant or welcoming a new child into your home, we will schedule your orientation appointment 3-4 weeks before your due date.  When your baby arrives you can begin using the diapers we left during the orientation.  Ready to sign up?  Visit our Signup Page to get started!

What kind of diapers do you use?

We use several different diapers within our service.  We offer Indian prefold, Thirsties® Duo-Hemp, and certified organic diapers, which are a cotton/hemp blend.  Each of these diapers are incredibly soft and absorbent.  The Indian prefold diapers are a natural light brown color.  The bleaching process to produce white diapers is not necessary since it can weaken the threads as well as pollute the environment.  The Thirsties® Due Hemp diapers are very soft and wonderfully absorbent and are designed to be combined with the Thirsties® Duo Wrap diaper covers.

How many diapers will I need?

For the average newborn we recommend 70 diapers per week.  60 is usually enough for 6-12 month olds, and 50 for toddlers.  Here is an example of how your diaper rotation will work:

Week 1:  We drop off 70 diapers

Week 2:  We drop off 70 diapers, we pick up 67 dirty diapers.

Week 3:  We drop off 67 diapers, we pick up 65 dirty diapers.

Week 4:  We drop off 65 diapers, we pick up 66 dirty diapers.

                Etc., etc., etc.......

You will always have plenty of fresh, clean diapers!

What if I need more diapers?

We start you with 140 diapers in rotation, but if thatís not enough then we will provide up to 200 diapers in rotation with no additional charge.  Just call us and we will be more than happy to work out an arrangement that will fit your needs.

What if I have multiple children in diapers?

Then we are sure you have your hands full and our service would be perfect for you!  We offer a 25% discount on each additional child.  You can have all the benefits of using cloth diapers without the hassle of doing the laundry at an incredibly affordable rate.

What size of diaper do I need?

That really depends on your baby.  Most diaper sizes run according to your babyís weight so we gauge the size of the diaper initially on their weight.  After you get started youíll know when your baby is ready for the next size diaper so contact us when they are ready and weíll upgrade you to the next larger size for no additional charge.

When do I put my diapers out?

We request that you have your diapers outside your door by 08:00 a.m. on your designated delivery day.

What if I forget to put out my diapers?

We certainly understand how busy your life can be with small children.  If the diapers are not on your porch when we arrive, we will knock on your door.  If youíre not home we can't leave clean diapers without picking up the soiled ones.  Please give us a call, we may be able to come back by that day for no charge if we are still in the area, or we can make arrangements for a special delivery the next day with a small fuel charge.

Do I need to rinse or wash my diapers?

Absolutely not!  That is our job.  The service you purchase is a laundry and sanitation service so there is no need for you to wash the diapers.  We have tight controls over how the diapers are washed so leave the washing to us!  There is no need to rinse your diapers and once your babyís poop is solid we ask that you flip the solid poop into the toilet.  If it is not flippable, then you don't have to worry about it.  Our diaper liners can make that even easier and will help keep your diaper pail smelling nicer.  Need diaper liners?  Please check out the ones we have in our online store.

Can I use diaper creams?

Regular or Original Formula Desitin creams stain our diapers. Any other diaper cream is fine.

How do I prevent my diaper covers from getting soiled every time?

While your baby is young, folding the diaper and placing it in the diaper cover may be enough.  Once your baby is crawling, a Snappi® fastener will help. See this ďhow to foldĒ video for details on folding diapers and on how to use a Snappi®.  Our thanks to our granddaughter Ivy and her beautiful mother Garrett for the video!  Garret is the owner of Ivy's Diaper Service in Charlotte, NC and has also put together a really nice video explaining the basics of cloth diapering.

What should I do if my baby is soaking through the diaper?

There are a few reasons this can happen.

Ł  Your baby may be ready for a bigger diaper. Let us know and we can bump you up to the next size.

Ł  If leaks occur mainly overnight or during naps, you may need a doubler ó or even two for heavy wetters.  You can add these to any service by visiting our Services page.

If you are not using a diaper service, the other cause could be detergent residue.  Laundry detergent can build up on anything you wash, but you will usually only notice it on items that are supposed to be waterproof or absorbent.  In the diaper service we use a multi-step process that helps prevent this from happening.

What if Iím going on vacation?

Lucky you!  Prior to leaving on your vacation simply let us know by calling our office, sending an e-mail, or clicking on our Change Service page and let us know the dates you will be gone and when you will return. If you wish to cloth diaper on vacation let us know you want some extra diapers and we will give you extras for your trip.

What about holidays and bad weather?

In the event of inclement weather like this winterís cold snap with snow and ice on the roads we will not put any of our drivers at risk by having them make deliveries while the roads are in an unsafe condition.  We endeavor to get ahead of the weather and may make your delivery early or late depending on when the weather comes through and when it leaves.  Safety of our drivers is a top priority so that we can continue servicing you for your babyís diapering life.

The holidays where we will be closed is Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.  In the event these holidays fall on your normal delivery day we will contact you to let you know of our holiday schedule and will put a schedule on our website 1-2 weeks prior to major holidays so you know when to expect your delivery.

Is there any benefit to referring my friends?

Absolutely!  We accept referrals from our customers at any time.  We will give you one free week for every friend you refer who stays with us for two months. Just have your friend mention your name when they sign up for their service the first time.

Do you offer a baby shower registry?  Can your service be given as a gift?

Yes, we have a Gift Registry available in our online store so please visit our Gift Registry to sign up!  You can then send your friends and family a link to your registry so they can order anything you put on your list.  We also offer gift certificates, which can be purchased for a specific amount or you may buy a service for your loved one.  Visit our Gifts page in the product section to find that perfect gift!

When do I get my bill?

After purchasing the service, if you have selected one of our New Mommy packages your first recurring bill will be at the end of that initial service term.  The New Mommy packages have a specific service term, but will automatically roll to a monthly diaper service plan with a valid current credit card on file.  You will receive your first bill after the end of the initial service period and we will send you monthly invoices so you always know what youíre paying for.  Alternatively, you can sign up for a longer term, or renew to a longer term service by visiting our Services page and select the plan thatís perfect for you!

We will soon offer an online method for you to pro-actively pay your monthly bill if you desire.  This service carries no extra cost and provides you with full control over your serviceís monthly billing.

What if I want to cancel?

Say it ainít so!  We do our best to provide our customers with flexibility in our service and will work with you to make the service what you want.  If you find that using a diaper service is not for you, or youíre moving out of the area, then contact us to arrange for a final pick up.  You can visit the Cancel Service page, fill it out, and we will schedule the final pickup of all diapers and diaper delivery bags.

We want all of our customers to leave us only because their children are potty trained.  If you wish to leave us because of another reason, please tell us so we can address your concerns!

How will I know when my baby is ready for potty training?

We like the Dr. Sears approach:

  • Imitates your toileting
  • Verbally communicates other sensations, such as hunger
  • Understands simple requests, such as "go get ball"
  • Begins to pull diapers off when wet or soiled, or comes to tell you his or her diaper is dirty
  • Follows you to the bathroom
  • Able to pull clothes off
  • Climbs onto the potty-chair or toilet
  • Has dry spells: stays dry at least three hours
  • Investigates his or her body equipment

Children in cloth diapers generally potty train between 24-30 months of age as compared to disposables, which can range anywhere between 36-48 months.  Cloth diapers typically help to get your son or daughter out of diapers much quicker than disposables.  Every child is different so learn your childís own unique style and be joyfully prepared when the day of potty training draws near.
